Stunning vistas from Island in the Sky or adventurous hikes in the Needles!

Established in 1964, Canyonlands National Park spans over 330,000 acres. With three distinct districts, plus the detached Horseshoe Canyon sub-unit, the possibilities of exploration are endless! The Island in the Sky District is known for short hikes to the edge of the mesa, providing world-class views in every direction. The Needles District offers excellent hiking and an opportunity to get lost in and amongst the fins, spires and occasional arches! The Maze District is extremely remote and difficult to see in one day. The detached Horseshoe Canyon sub-unit hosts some of the most special rock art in Southern Utah. It depends! Canyonlands is split into three districts, with Island in the Sky being the most visited. This is the district that we typically choose, but if you’d like to visit the Needles District instead, we can do that in the spring and fall. The summer is too hot for a visit to the Needles, so we always stick to Island in the Sky during the hottest months. The Maze District requires hours of driving on 4×4 roads, so we do not visit this area on our guided tours.

All of our tours are private, so if you have your heart set on seeing certain areas, please let us know. If you’d rather leave it up to the guide, we’re happy to show you our favorite spots.

We’ll chat with you about your fitness level, hiking experience and anything else you want us to take into consideration as we plan a loose itinerary for our time in the park. Throughout our visit, we can be flexible with where we hike and what we see – oh, the beauty of private tours!

Our National Park permit requires us to stay on designated trails. Some trails are busier than others, so if you’d like to visit areas that are less busy, let us know. If you don’t care much about crowds and just want to see the most classic overlooks and arches, we can do that too!

Sure, we’re not allowed to take you on trails that aren’t on the park map, but what we can do is share a wealth of knowledge about the area that you won’t get from hiking on your own and reading the signs at each trailhead.

Our guides are local residents who know and love these National Parks. We’ll teach you about geology, flora and fauna, natural history, cultural history and answer any questions about the area that you may have.

We spent a full day in Canyonlands with Herb and had a wonderful time. He is a lot of fun to hike with and knows so much about the area. Guides are not allowed to go off the established trails, but we thought that hiring a guide was still well worth it. Highly recommend this company!
