Indian Creek Crack Climbing

The best splitter crack climbing in the world!

Indian Creek is thought by many to be the best sandstone crack climbing destination anywhere. Vertical and perfectly varnished crack systems provide an excellent venue to hone your crack climbing technique. Moderate to difficult lines will challenge anyone in your group. “The Creek” lacks beginner friendly climbing and is best reserved for those with previous climbing experience. Improve your crack techniques including hand jamming, finger locking, laybacking and maybe even stacking for the wide cracks! Your guide will emphasize the importance of foot work for efficiency in ascending crack systems. And of course, no trip to The Creek is complete without learning how to make your own tape gloves.

In between laps, enjoy the surreal views into Bears Ears National Monument and the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park. As you catch your breath, gaze out at the Dugout Ranch and imagine what the ranching life must have looked like 100 years ago. Today, the Dugout Ranch works closely with The Nature Conservancy to preserve this incredible place for generations to come.

Our guide Jake took us out to Indian Creek as well as to the Ancient Art tower and the entire trip was spectacular. He is an excellent teacher (about climbing and the surrounding area/rock formations) and a truly kind person. Cannot recommend enough!

What an amazing place! I went out for a day of climbing in Indian Creek with Herb and learned so much. He is very experienced and I could tell that he's very passionate about both climbing and teaching. I learned how to hand jam and feel like I really improved my climbing technique in just one day. I can't wait to get out climbing with Desert Highlights again!
